i have 3 betta fish and they are very healthy. 1 would be having at least a five gallon tank. 2 would be buying a temporary treat. like blood worms or brine shrimp. 3 would be having the water conditioned at room temp. and having a filter would let their fins grow back if they are rotting. 4 is have a few plants in with the fish. maybe a live one maybe very flexible. but i do not recommend hard plants. for they will tear up the fins. trust me it happend. 5 maybe get him a friend. i have 2 neon tetras in a tank at the same time with 2 female bettas and a male. they dont even care who is swimming around them. but they had to get comfortable with eachother. 6 dont forget the gravel in any 1 gallon tank and up.
Depends on the fish but keep the right temp, get a biowheel filter, and dont use gravle becasue it causes a lot of proploms.

Well, if you love your Betta fish, then it should live by itself. But if you add another Betta to your current Betta fish's tank, then they will start a fight because Betta Fish are Siamese fighting fish and if one Betta is in contact of another Betta, the possible reason would be a fight between them two.
A betta is a fish of the species Betta, especially Betta splendens, commonly known as the Siamese fighting fish.
While there are no real studies about the length of the attention span of a betta fish, it seems to be about the same as a goldfish. That would make a betta's attention span about three minutes.
