By not adding other fish?
You'll be surprised that in most cases its the betta who is the victim. Betta is such slow swimmer and they have large fin, which makes them perfect target for fin nippers.
Although, you can add bottom feeders such as Corydoras catfish into the same tank as a betta, they do not occupy the same level.

It depends what food the other fish eats. Bettas are carnivorous, so they eat meat. If the betta food is meat (which it most likely is) and the fish you want to feed is a also a freshwater carnivore, then, chances are, you can feed the fish betta food.
Yes, a snail can potentially harm a betta fish by carrying diseases or parasites that could make the fish sick or even kill it. It is important to monitor the health of both the snail and the betta fish to prevent any harm.
it depends on the beta, but if you intend on doing this make sure none of the other fish have long fins,or the next day you could have a tailless fish!
the male betta fish makes the nest.
they have a shelf at wal-mart that is like animals and if u go to the begging of the aisle there it is and make sure it says betta fish food
some beta fish are aggressive and will tend to attack other fish but depending one the environment you've had them in they wont. Like if they have been around other fish then no but if they were by themselves then yes
