Well this will depend on if you mean from the saddle or from the ground. If you mean from the ground then you need to have a properly fitted halter and lead rope. Gently push the rope towards the horses chest and say 'Back.' if the horse doesn't move then you can push the rope and your fist into it' chest and say 'Back' another time. The horse should start to back up, once it does allow it to stand still and give it a pat for a reward. If you mean under saddle then you need to sit deep in the saddle close your legs briefly against it's sides then gently close your fingers on the reins. Don't pull on the reins as this allows the horse to push against your hand and keep moving. The horse should come to a stop, if not repeat the same steps and say 'whoa.'. Eventually the horse will understand and stop, when it does give it a pat and a kind word then allow it to move off again.
What I do is, when my horse backs up when i want her to stop or go forward I MAKE her back up about half way accross the arena. Everytime she starts to un-wantedly back up I make sure she does, but for how long and when I want her to. Once you have done this, your horse will willingly go forward!! :) Repeate this everytime your horse backs up on her own, and after a while she/he will relyse that everytime she wants to back up and does that your going to make her back up more than she wants to and she will quit! Good Luck
The thoroughbred and the quarter horse are the breeds that make up an appendix Quarter Horse.
no you walk on the left of the horse pushing forward a little on the lead. you only stand in front to make the horse back up.
"mount a horse" means to climb onto a horse's back To get up into the saddle
Each stirrup on John's saddle had to be raised up when his son rode his horse. REAL horsemen skip the stirrup and spring onto the back of the horse!
in a way. the back legs support the horse and boost him off the ground to run. So yes. If the horse did not have back legs he would not be able to run.
Make sure the horse knows you are there by making some sort of soothing sound.
It's just a considerate thing to do. You take the weight off his back to make him/her more comfortable when they urinate.
tie a string to the horse and flick it up
No, the Trojan Horse was Odysseus's idea.
a farmer and his wife are riding on their horse up a steep hill. the horse stops and doesnt move. the farmer jumps off the horse, and flicks the horse in the face. "thats strike one!" the farmer gets back on the horse and starts up the hill again. after about 2 minutes the horse stops. the farmer jump off the horse and punches it in the face. "thats strike 2." the farmer gets back on the horse and the horse starts up again. after about 1 minute the horse stops, and the farmer shoots the horse. then, the wife says "now how are we going to get on the top of the hill?" the farmer flicks his wife in the face. "that's strike one!"
Okay, first you put the saddle blanket on the horses back- put it up to where nthe horses withers are. Then you put the saddle on the horses back-make sure it is in the middle. Then pust the top part of the saddle blanket into the gullet of the saddle (under the pommel). Then you walk around the other side of the horse and check that nothing is tangled. Then go back to the other side and reach and grab the girth (the thicker one) and do it up tight. make sure you can fit a flat hand between the horse and the girth. Then you do up the surcingle- make sure it is ontop of the girth. Don't do it up to tight. Now you are saddled.
