I have a 94 jetta and bought the car with a broken sunroof motor. There is a plastic piece on the head liner. Just pull off the piece. Inside you should find an Allen wrentch and an Allen hole. You can figure it out from there.
It maybe cause by a faulty motor, Hard to close sunroof. I sugest you remove the cover where the ceilling interior light is located and in there you will find an allan key you can use to open/close manually in case of motor malfunction. You should be able to at least find if it is hard or easy to close/open. If it hard to move then it maybe the cause. Hope it help.
th different between is the interior , gl have sunroof only , the gls have everything , full poer , sunroof , leather...
Check the insulation material all the way around - it may be time to replace it. The rails that the sunroof rides in need to be greased periodically too it may bind up no letting it close all the way.
AnswerReconnect the battery!!
I have the same problem. The man at the junk yard said it sounds like a short in the switch. I am going to check it out.
