Each time you level up, your stats increase. The max level cap is 20, and you can earn stat increase potions by killing 'gods'. Gods are the strongest monsters in the game, and they're are usually found in the middle of the map. Each stat potion increases that stat by 1.
Some stat potions can be found exclusively in dungeons, as well.
