if you want to migrate, all you have to do is place in the gba game e.g. leaf green and keep Pokemon platinum in the ds, then you go onto platinum and then on the menu, you have an option saying "migrate from leaf green" or whatever game you have put in and then choose six Pokemon, then it will go back to the menu and, then go to pal park and there you have it.
