It is a common misconception that pencils contain the element lead, probably brought about by the middle part of a pencil being called lead. In fact no pencils contain lead instead using carbon based materials (or in the case of coloured pencils, a type of coloured clay). Coloured pencils have been around since the 1920s. They were originally created from colours and pigments suspended in a waxy base with natural binding agents and often fillers. Lead was not an ingredient in coloured pencils at that time. As the industry has advanced, manufacturers have become more aware of ingredients that can be harmful to people and have reduced the use of toxins in their products. Therefore it is even less likely for there to be lead in modern coloured pencils.
During the 1800s, the best graphite in the world came from China. American pencil makers wanted a special way to tell people that their pencils contained Chinese graphite. In China, the color yellow is associated with royalty and respect. American pencil manufacturers began painting their pencils bright yellow to communicate this "regal" feeling and association with China. Now, that is just the way pencils are made, pencil manufactures stick to using the color yellow for the pencil.
Yellow is a primary colour, there is no way to make it by mixing two other colours.
To create a gold color using colored pencils, start by layering yellow and brown pencils to build up a rich base. Then, add highlights of white or light yellow to create a metallic sheen. Blend the colors smoothly to achieve a realistic gold effect.
White with a little bit of yellow makes cream.
yellow is a prime colour, and therefore cannot be created using other colours, it can only be used to make other colours.
Secondary colours, aka purple, green and orange.
There are a couple of ways you can blend with coloured pencils: You should use paper between:90-300 grams per sheet and good quality colouring in pencils that are either wax/oil based. Cheaper colouring in pencils will not blend! A colourless blender or also called burnisher and blender from derwent, this tool is designed to move coloured pencil pigments around the surface, smooth pencil strokes and colour transitions, and not to add colour. Colourless blenders contain the same binding materials as the main pencil lines, but have no pigment. Some colorless blenders only work on wax based colouring pencils. Also if too much pressure is applied with colourless blender, it could destroy the tooth (texture) of the paper. Using a sharp needle like tip and using a colouring white pencil , rendering this over colours can draw pigment out of the original area and create the illusion of blending. But white should be really used for burishing, to create a saturated and smooth surface. You shouldn't really need to blend colour pencils like charcoal but you should layer colour pencils creating a more denser and also darker value creating the illusion of blending . Fusing colours with solvents can create colour blending without visible pencil strokes.
It is not possible to make true yellow using pink as a start. Yellow is a primary colour, as are red and blue. You can not mix to achieve these colours. Pink is a pastel form of red (one of the above mentioned primary colours). Any combination of red and yellow will result in a form of orange.
Secondary ColoursSecondary colours are colours made by 2 of the primary colours (red, yellow, blue). The 3 secondary colours are orange (made by red and yellow), green (made by yellow and blue) and purple (made by red and blue). An example of a colour that is made by colours without using both primary colours would be pink 'cause it's made by red and white. Red is a primary colour but white isn't so pink wouldn't be a secondary colour.
using temporary colours is one, coloured sprays and mousses, which help the hair change colour, try food coloring
Blue is one of the three primary colours, red, yellow and blue. It cant be made using any other colour. All secondary colours, like green, orange and purple, are made up of primary colours. Hope this helps! Red+yellow=orange Red+blue=purple Blue+yellow=green
