find God
Wait for the pain to go away and then move on with the piece of sh*t that you call a life.
Your statement is beautifully phrased. How lovely it would be if we could "nestle" ourselves in an old pain while making a new life. But no one likes pain. We're programmed to move away from pain and toward pleasure. If an experience holds "old pain," it hurt somehow. The only way to deal with that is to use the pain for whatever we learned from it so we lessen our chances of repeating it. As I said to someone very recently, I'm only human...I feel...I have emotions...and we never want to keep adding pain to what we feel. I suppose the best we can expect is to let the past pain become a part of our history, trying to recall the times during that phase when there was something other than pain. It's a struggle. There has to be something now that makes us want to "nestle" ourselves in more happiness than pain in order to keep going. A search, for sure, and one that requires patience and faith.
