Basically the same way you peel any vegetable. A vegetable peeler works pretty well, though can be hard to get started with. A sharp paring knife will work well also.

Pop under the grill, allow to char slightly, allow to cool, peel, enjoy.

I assume you are peeling it with the intention of eating it. The easiest way to peel it is to cut it in half, scrape out the seeds, and bake it for an hour or so until soft. It will be hot, but the orange rind will slip off quite easily. If you want to peel a raw pumpkin, you can try using a potato peeler...good luck.

Taken from oldrecipebook.com:

"First, have you noticed that most recipes say to "pare" the Eggplant? That simply means to cut off the top, cut off the bottom, and starting at the top just slice downwards with your paring knife, slicing off the skin (What's a paring knife? Well it's a small sharp knife that comes to a point at the tip.) Any sharp knife will do though. Just slice the dark purple peeling off of the eggplant."

Slice the avocado in half length wise, and slice the 1/2 without the seed again lengthwise. Gently pull back the skin from the end. Voila! Remove the seed from the other 1/2 and do the same. Some types of avocado's peel resist this method and a spoon is used to gently scoop the skin apart.

How do you clean and cup up eggplant?

To clean an eggplant, just place the whole thing under running water and use your hands to rub off any dirt. Cut off the stem end and just a bit of the bottom, where the "dimple" is, off. At this point, you can peel the eggplant or leave the skin on. Stand the eggplant up on end and carefully slice it from top to bottom. Stack the slices on top of each other and slice the whole stack several times top to bottom, then turn the stack and slice horizontally. The more cuts you make, the smaller your pieces of eggplant will be.
