Pimping is recommending a friend to others so that they can become facebook friends with the intent of joining each other's mafia. To pimp a friend is to post a link to their profile on your page for all your friends to see and say something such as "Add my friend." You could also add something such as "level 425, 1400 friends," or "daily player" to try and spark your friends' interest.

Self-pimping, is posting your own link in response to a friend's post so that their friends will see it, or posting it elsewhere with the hope that players will add you such as was done by the person who answered this question before me. They didn't attempt to properly answer the question. They just pimped themself as I will do now. :D
