You need to make a bricks block by crafting bricks like this (E = Empty, B = Brick):

Then place the block like normal by right clicking.
Hold the "control" key and click.
Bricks have to be made into brick blocks which is a 2x2 formula of bricks.
The default button to place down blocks (eg. bricks) is by Pressing MOUSE2. (Right-click)
