How did Arizona receive it's nickname?

If the question refers to the Grand Canyon State then it is by happinstance. Arizona was carved out of New Mexico Territory after a lot of thought struggle and bickering. At one time the plan was to divide New Mexico Territory on an East-West gridline with Arizona taking the bottom half. Had that been done, the Grand Canyon would be in New Mexico.

What is the tourist attraction Grand Canyon Skywalk?

The Grand Canyon Skywalk is a tourist attraction along the Colorado River on the edge of the Grand Canyon (Grand Canyon West) in the U.S. state of Arizona. A horseshoe-shaped glass walkway extending over over a side canyon that is like you are stepping out in space, when you take a walk on this U-shaped transparent platform that juts out over the Grand Canyon's western rim, 4,000 feet (1219 m) above the Colorado River. Visitors must don special non-scuff, nonslip booties for the 70-foot (21.3 m) walk on the 4-inch (10.2 cm) thick glass floor. The walkway is built to withstand hurricane winds of up to 100 mph (160.9 kph) coming from eight different directions and earthquakes up to a magnitude of 8.0 within 50 miles; it can hold the weight of 71 Boeing 747 jet airliners - over 71 million pounds (32 million kg). Source: Answers.com The skywalk at the Grand Canyon is a man-made structure meant for taking in a wide panorama of the Grand Canyon. It is built over the west side of the Grand Canyon. In addition, the bottom of the skywalk is transparent so visitors can experience the full view offered by the tourist attraction.

Do people live by the Grand Canyon?

IN the Grand Canyon? Yes. I know of the concessionaire that runs food and hotel operations in the park has 16 full-time, live-in employees at Phantom Ranch. A small collection of cabins for tourists to stay at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Park Service has rangers in various stations and water pump monitoring stations as all water at the Sout Rim of the Grand Canyon is pumped up from the bottom via pipeline. I do not know a total count, but there are at least two dozen people who live at the bottom of the canyon. AT the Grand Canyon, in the park itself, there are about 4,800 full-time residents. Concession employees (hotel staff, restaurant staff, transportation crew and gift shop employees), as well as NPS (National Park Service) employees, U.S. postal workers (yes, there in a post office in the million acre national park), local food-supply store emplyees, bank employees and a few government houses play host to the year-round residents. I have lived and worked there for seven years and plan on moving back. It is a one-of-a-kind experience and so very unique. I loved every minute of it.

In what town is the Grand Canyon?

Tusayan was incorporated as a town in 2010 and is near the entrance to the South Rim of the Park. Both Supai and Grand Canyon Village are within Grand Canyon National Park, but both are classified as Census Designated Places instead of towns.Williams with a population of about 3,000 is classified as a City and is worthy of cnsideration.Flagstaff is a respectable, full amenities city that is close and worthy of a visit in its own right. It is a perfect alternative for those who deplore roughing it but failed to make an early reservation at the Riim's lovely Chalet. Plan on an almost two hour drive to the South Rim during the summer season..
