You need a DVD drive to be able to read a DVD.. not a simple CD drive..
You can tell when you look at your PC, the tray that comes out where you put a CD/DVD in, it should be inscribed on it DVD, if it doesnt, it cannot play dvds

You might have two DVD drives -- one for playing DVDs, and one for creating them. The one for playing DVDs is usually the top one. After you have put in the DVD, open one of the DVD player programs. There are the ones listed above, and there's also InterActual Player, PC-Friendly DVD Player, and Power DVD. My favorite is Power DVD, because it has subtitle options, even if the DVD itself doesn't have them. And it lets you rewind at different speeds, and it'll play in slow-motion.
