On a Ukulele with a GCEA tuning, the A minor chord is formed with the pointer finger on the second fret, fourth string.

You would normally play, say, an E chord with your first, second and third fingers. Make the E chord with your second, third and fourth fingers, and place your index finger across the fretboard above them. That chord can be moved up or down as necessary.
