Sadly you need to invite a friend, or other player off your Windows Live/XBL gamertag. Their is no search system. To do it simply click on the player 2 slot on the menu in the campagin screen before you start a mission, and choose the person you wish to invite.
This all depends on the game that you have... if it is a game such as blackops you can not play co-op mode unless you go online, you cant do so in campaign mode. if you have world at war on the other hand you are able to play in co-op mode.
You can't play co-op in COD 3, unfortunately, World at War is the only COD with co-op campaign.

To play four player campaign you need to either system link two 360s or you can do the coop online (each xbox has to have the game). You cant play four player campaign with just one xbox and one game.
