If I remember correctly, cover all of the holes, but if that's not right, then it's all but that last one. thats lower c, and youre right, you do cover all the holes. covering all but the last hole is lower e. c sharp is fingers of the back hole but on the first two holes instead. high c is put youre finger on the second hole from the top and on the back hole.
In the case that you are playing on a Soprano recorder, there are two F notes.
By closing three of your fingers of left hand and the thumb, you can play the lower F.

the highest note you can play on a soprano recorder is high b. this is a freakishly high note so be careful not to blow into your recorder really hard while playing this note because you'll pop your Eardrums!
