There are a lot of important things your child needs to do to get ready for a state pageant. One thing is that you need your child's body tanned. Tanning your child is a great advantage for her/him to win. If your child is pale, then she/he would stand out like crazy!
Another thing is you need your child's hair and makeup done by a professional. Hair and makeup (on the face) is what the judges mostly look at. Being all glitzied up is the number one thing in a pageant. Something the judges also always look at is the dress. The dress counts as half of the part so make sure your child has a fancy, glitzed-up dress for the judges. Make sure there are no rips or stains so your child won't loose unnecessary points for that. To be even more glitzy take your child to a salon or nail place for a massage to get them relaxed and have their nails done so they are as pretty as everything else.
Everybody knows that practice makes perfect! So help your child with routines based on the certain categories that pageant includes such as swimsuit, talent... or beauty which is the first and foremost in pageants. Teaching and practicing with your child can certainly make them feel more confident and good about themselves as well as knowing exactly what there doing on the stage.
When your child is doing the routines pick nice music to go with the walk, dancing or singing. Ensure sure your child is comfortable, proud and happy in doing their routine. For an extra push (or if you're not ready to coach your child) bring them once or twice a week to a professional dancing coach. If your child is a beginner, make sure you keep up with that.Eventually you can start making your toddlers dances and walks a little more challenging and sassy or cute when they get more advanced!
Some pageants include modeling photo competition. Taking pictures of your child with full make-up and dress can certainly be entered in a competition at the pageant. The photos can also make your child feel very special in knowing all the attention is on them. Photos are also a great advantage in showing judges that you are committed and have great belief that your child can win.
Remember... Make sure that your child is having fun! Don't push them to do something maybe you only want to do.
