Anytime you are appearing in Family Law Court, you should have a lawyer. Its too complicated and too serious for the layman. However, just as in regular court, a lawyer can be appointed to you, if you cant afford to retain one.
No, you don't have to be represented by a lawyer. However you may be able to get a state appointed one free of charge if you cant afford one. the way the courts work you would be better of getting some one if you can,

i cant afford a lawyer, the lawyer who is supposibly handling it will not callme back i am one of three children who have been left items and monies since my moms passing, can you tellme how to get some answers
You don't need a lawyer. You should have a good case anyway. I suggest that you contact your State's child support agency. When you get an interview with them, bring all the papers relating to your child support: birth certificates, acknowledgments of paternity, court orders, payment records, etc. Be polite but persistent. Good luck!
If the car is yours and you can't afford it, either sell it or try and give it to the bank that has the loan. I don't see a contempt of court issue here since you are not doing anything in violation of a court order.
In Virginia, contact your local legal aid office for help presenting your case. Lawyers at the office provide assists on pro bono.
