Do not play your playstation for more then 6 hours, leaving about an hour cooldown time, clearing out the dust by vacuuming it out, And also you could open it up and replace the compound that sony puts on the heatsync pads with something better. :)

Keep the PS3 in a well ventilated area where it has room to release the hot air. Also you shouldn't play on it for hours on end all at once.

If you're talking about entering cheat codes into the game, then no you will not get the Yellow Light of Death.
You cannot prevent bugs from being attracted to light because it is their nature to be drawn to light. You can use yellow light bulbs that do not attract them as much as other forms of light. The attraction to light is called phototaxis.
