# Close all the vehicle doors. # Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder - do not turn ignition switch. # Press and hold the DOOR unlock switch (This is the switch on the door, NOT the remote). # While holding the DOOR lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF ON, OFF. (3 TIMES) # Release the DOOR unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock one time to confirm the program mode is actuated. # Simultaneously press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button on one keyless remote for approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter. # Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters. Reprogram any existing remotes at this time as they have been erased. # Turn the ignition switch to the ON (one more click forward) position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter mode. # Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

With the door open, turn the ignition key to run then off, repeat the process four times quickly and stop at run. Press any key on the remote and the doors should lock then unlock. Some Cougars require the key process to be eight times instead of five.

If I remember correctly, have all fobs with you. Switch key from off to run about a dozen times, the door locks will lock and unlock several times, I think you need to leave the key in the on position. Push the panic button on all fobs, and you should be good to go. If that doesn't work, the manual should tell you how to do that.

If this remote is from Original Keyless in Prescott Valley, Ar. it may not even belong to that car. I ordered a remote from them and they sent useless instructions and when we couldn't program it ourselves we took it to the dealer only to be charged another $40.00 to be told it didn't even belong to our make of car. They will not answer their phones or e-mails. I have turned them into the Better Business Bureau with no results.

i programmed mine with the instructions from www.programyourremote.com, it told me to insert the key, and than turn it from the off position to run position 4 times within six seconds, than u push the lock button on the remote u wish to program. i was pretty sceptical it'd work too...but it did... here are their exact directions, what i just told u is what worked when i did it

1. Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 4 times within 6 seconds. 2. Turn the ignition OFF. The LED in the clock/trip computer will light up continuously

to confirm programming mode. 3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first keyless remote. The LED in the

clock will flash 4 times to confirm programming. 4. Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote.5. Turn the ignition to RUN. The LED will turn off to indicate end of programming mode.

I was told by dealer you bring the remote key and vehicle in it takes about an hour and they do it through a computer. Costs about 100.00 bucks.
