Same way you can catch a cold : Having contact with a person that has pneumonia by touching, kissing, eating or drinking after them etc. You can also catch it if your not covered in the winter.
You want to use "mnemonic" if you're referring to any learning technique which aids in information retention. You'll use "pneumonic" if you're talking about anything to do with the lungs.
