It's quite similar to Fat Bastard's pronunciation of "belly." More to the point, it's: б = 'b' as in boy. ел = 'yel' as in yelling. ы a unique sound in Russian that is approximately 'oo' as in foot followed 'y' as in funny, done with the oo being quite fast as to make the majority of it an 'ee' sound. (it's a hard one to explain). й = is a short 'y' as in yesterday sound



This, of course changes depending upon what you're talking about. A white car is белая машина, etc.
