If you have Windows XP WITH Service Pack 2 then the firewall is enabled by default.
Windows XP WITHOUT service pack 2 has a firewall, which isn't very good and is NOT enabled by default. Get service pack to and install it now!

However, if you are reliant on file sharing, make sure that your files/folders are unshared when you are finished using them.

∙ 13y agoKeep it password protected, keep the firewall active. Block incoming cookies from untruster sources, maintain active virus checking. Buy yourself a router even if you only have one computer. It makes it harder for attackers to get to you.
