Align the timing marks on the camshaft gears to the
notches on the camshaft cover, using the intake
gear mark for the intake gear and the exhaust gear
mark for the exhaust gear.
38. Align the mark on the crankshaft gear with the
notch at the bottom of the rear timing belt cover.
Behind the fly wheel is a plate with 3 marks on it, loosen the 2 screws and put on the center mark, tighten screws down....this should be done with piston in it highest position.
well first you need to get the timing close enough to crank then put a timing light on it and bring timing to top dead center.. which is the second mark on the timing chain cover.. there will be a mark on the harmonic balancer line that mark up with the second mark on the gauge on the timing chain cover.. and should be fine
some one put the wrong balancer on the crank. or put it on inside out...
There is a connecter behind the cluster that burnt, suzuki has put out a recall on this problem and if you go to your dealer it should be covered under warranty due to this recall
the only way to determine where tdc is to do the timing is to put a dial indicator on top of number 1 piston, can be done with the head on depending on what engine it is
ya take the old one off, and ya put the new one on. bingo bango...!that is not nice
Set the piston at tdc the put the 180 digree marks on the cam face even with the head with both lobes down
put the piston at top dear center and have the timing mark point to the 12 o clock position realitive to the engine. and assemble the chain
you need a large socket and a breaker bar to manually turn the cam until the timing mark is placed right
Unless you are putting on a new timing belt ,you do not set the timing on the car ,it is completely controlled by the onboard computer, if you are going to put a new timing chain on then post that you need the settings for that and i will try and find the diagram for you and the timing mark, i have it written down somewhere here in my notes , i had to repalce the belt or chain, per say and then and only then do u need to adjust the mark, after that its all pc stuff,
First put the #1 piston all the way up in the cyl.Make sure your crank shaft timing mark is lined up.There's another timing mark on the left side as you look at the crank shaft on the other gear(intermeteate gear). It too must be lined up. Put your cam gears timing marks together with all the valves closed on #1 cyl.
hi there is a hole in the cam pully and the other one is on the metal behind the pully it is a punch out hole looking mark. you have to use a mirror and flashlight to line it up. the crankshaft pully has a little mark to the left of the key hole looking at it from the back is the easy way to find it its hard to see but its a little notch the other one is on the metal behind the pully has a little line which is the mark you can put back on the harmonic balancer and put the timing mark to zero helps spot out the mark also.
