you most likely will have to drop the tank. most fuel pumps are located on top of the fuel tank. when the tank is dropped you will see this round mounted thingy. that's your pump. be careful taking it out since they are 2 separate parts pushed into each other. before going thru all the hassle however, check if your pump is working. somewhere on your engine block is a valve (covered by a rubber or plastic screw), take of the cover and push the valve with a screw driver. you'll have to have the ignition on (but not the engine!) for this test. if you can see (smell) the fuel come out, your fuel pump is most likely ok. I don't know what kind of engine you have, but call Chrysler and ask were the valve is on your block. it should be on the passenger side somewhere.

From SEBRING JXI DRIVE IS LOVE:

I have a Chrysler Sebring Convertible JXi 1999. At the moment, (Sept 9, 2008), it appears I have a failed fuel pump assembly. Further diagnostics to come over the next 48 hours. Partial diagnostics have been completed. I have the factory service manual. As far as I can tell, both from the manual and from visual inspection, there is no Schrader valve on the fuel rail on this car. This is a "one line" fuel system, without a return line. The manual refers to relieving the pressure by removing the relay, then running the car until it dies (this would be great, if the car ran, which it would if the fuel pump were working, in which case I would not be needing to relieve the pressure, etc). Can anybody say Cath-22? Today I released (disconnected) the fuel line connector toward the passenger side of the engine area, to relieve the pressure. There was none. I then cranked the engine, and got no fuel. So either the pump assembly has failed completely, or there is some other aspect of the overall management system that is preventing the voltage going to the pump. The relays have been verified as OK. Incidentally, on this specific car, there are 6 relays in the large fuse box in the engine compartment, and they are all the exact same part number, so they are interchangeable, for testing purposes). The point is, this car HAS NO SCHRADER VALVE (pressure relief valve) as far as I can tell. Many cars over the past two decades do traditionally have Schrader valves on the fuel rail, but this one doesn't (2.5L V-6). I am open to correction, of course. Thank You.
