Unless the disc is a CD-RW you do not format a CD-R. If you format a CD-R you will make the disk unuseable. Just use a burning program and highlight all the photos you want on the disk and put them on it.
Put the CD in the CD drive of your computer. Assuming it is using a windows operating system, open 'my computer' and double click on the CD drive. You can then click and drag the photos either onto your desktop or into your 'my pictures' folder. You can also right click on the photos and select copy, then right click and paste them into a document or a folder.

As long as the CD still has enough unused space on it, you can add photos.
If you laptop has a CD drive put the CD in to it and then you would select the photos that you want right click and then click burn to disc. If your laptop doesnt have a CD drive then I suggest that you put it on a flash drive and try it on a computer or laptop that does have a CD drive
