QT or MOV file name extensions (formats) are not compatible with Windows Movie Maker. You will have to convert the QuickTime or MOV file to one of the following formats before you can import/edit the file in Windows Movie Maker:
.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmv

If you are using Windows, I suggest that you use Windows Movie Maker. It comes installed with your system and is quick and easy to use.
