You can do this yourself with your camcorder and a firewire cable on your computer or you can send the tape to a video transfer service like StashSpace.Com and have it converted for you (they charge $6.95 per tape).
To do it yourself you need to import the video from the tape into a video capture software like iMovie, winodws movie maker, or StashSpace.Com's StashBox. Just connect a Firewire cable between the video source and the computer. You can edit the material in iMovie if needed. Then, from the Share menu, send the video to the Media Browser. You can then load the video into iDVD and create a stylish DVD. Full instructions for each of these stages are available from the Help menu in iMovie.
To connect your mini DV camera to the computer, get an IEEE firewire (or "IEEE 1394 interface"). You can get one at Best Buy for about $35.

Cables to connect your VCR to the PC. If you are purchasing a card like in 3 above, you should receive the cables with your card. 6. Software for converting VCR video to avi or mpeg. To convert the video-cassette: 1. Instal the video capture card in your PC - usually in a PCI slot. 2. Connect the VCR output to the card input on your PC. 3. Power on your PC and the VCR 4. Start the video capture software on your computer, Pop in the video-cassette into the VCR and follow the instructions as per the software's manual. 5. This should convert the video-cassette into a digital movie file on your computer's hard disk. 6. Convert video to avi or mpeg 7. Next, use the CD burning software which came with your computer to burn this movie onto the CD-R.
NO you cannot. AS video8 is digital and VHS is analog so they dont work together. The adaptor will only work with VHS-C tapes. What I would recommend is using a video transfer service to convert your video 8 tapes into a digital format. Watch and edit the digital files on your computer or get the tapes transferred to DVDs. StashSpace.Com does a good job at this, costs $7 for the transfer to digital and $10-15 for DVDs. http://www.stashspace.com/video-transfer/video-dvd-transfer.stm
