move the hands backwards or fowards. If you have the little hand on the hour and the big hand on the 3, 6, 9, or 12, it will play Westminster chimes and then strike the number of hours.
It may just be to old. You can still use it as decortion.
To calibrate the Daniel Dakota Westminster Chime clock, first wind the clock fully. Then adjust the time to 5 minutes before the desired time and let the clock chime. You can fine-tune the clock by adjusting the minute hand to the exact time when the chime sequence ends. Repeat as needed until the chime matches the correct time.
You can with some, not with others.

The center weight on a grandfather clock is responsible for driving the timekeeping mechanism. It is designed to descend as it powers the clock's movement, unlike the other weights which control other functions such as the chime and strike. This descent is a normal part of the clock's operation.
To keep a grandfather clock running smoothly, the weights hanging inside the clock need to be raised periodically. The weights provide the power to keep the clock ticking and chime functioning. By winding the weights regularly, you ensure that the clock continues to work properly and maintain accurate timekeeping.
Clocks will have an area, normally behind the clockface and sloightly belwo where the "chimes" that make the sound sit aand are struck by a small hammer which is operated by a spring mechanism. The chime is normally a tube of a specific length and diameter the large size gives the lower tone.

The value of a triple chime Prince 4875 grandfather clock can vary significantly based on its condition, age, and market demand, typically ranging from $300 to $1,000. Factors such as the clock's craftsmanship, brand reputation, and whether it has been maintained or restored can also influence its worth. To determine a more precise value, consulting a clock appraiser or checking recent sales of similar models is advisable.
Just bought a used Daniel Dakota Westminister wall clock and it does not chime.
My Grandfather's Clock was created in 1876.
One of the weights is for the hands to rotate and the other is for the chiming bells. they do different tasks. When I wind mine up after it has 'run out' it will often chime straight away but it will never tick till the pendulum is activated.
