To race you need to have bought a horse from Olson's and have no outstanding boarding fee's to be payed off. Then you need to ride your pony to the Wiggin's estate, when you reach the first section where there is a wooden shed, dismount your pony and you will see something that says 'Pony Pal Derby' click on that and it will take you to the race.
