* Squeeze your nose with ice for ten minutes.

* Arnica (homeopathic remedy) taken orally or Arnica cream applied locally (to the nose area) is excellent for reducing swelling and bruising after an injury or surgical procedure (anywhere on the body). Arnica works in the same way for animals, too. In the UK and India, for example, many surgeons are giving Arnica both before and after surgery. Arnica can be purchased from any good health store.

Professionally provided nostril piercings (done by a professional body piercer not a piercing gun) do not swell. If you have swelling your issues can be several things, the jewellery is the wrong size or incorrect type for your piercing, the cleaning product you are using is causing the swelling, the jewellery is too tight and not allowing for proper cleaning and disinfection of the piercing. All of these require you to see your piercer or the facility that did the piercing to have them fix the problem.

whats said above by this chick isn't actually true. you can deffinatly get swelling when its done profesionally with a needle. your piercing could be swolen for a few reasons

-you changed the jewelry to early

-you kept touching the piercing

-it wasnt cleaned using the right things or not at all

-etc

if u changed the jewlry early, put the original back in which should either be titanium or surgical steel.

touching the piercing to often can result in swelling because all the germs on your hands etc.

never clean your piercing with hydrogin peroxide, ear care antiseptic, or polysporin to try and heal it.

to bring down swelling, ALWAYS clean your piercing with salt water. the salt will sooth your skin, help the healing process AND keep it germ free.

try to clean it at least twice a day (morning and night). its better to use sea salt but table salt works fine as well. mix 1 part salt to every 2 parts water and actually let it soak the piercing.

so its actually easier to mix it in a bowl or glass, sit down and well..shove your nose in it and have the water soak your nose for about a minute. you will probably feel retarded but it will help the sweilling and healing ! also it will hep reduce redness around the piercing area. hope this was helpful. :)))

Cold compresses near, but not directly on the effected area and keeping your head elevated even during sleep can help reduce swelling. There are other things you can do before the surgery as well to reduce the risk of swelling. It would be wise to discuss those options with your surgeon prior to surgery.

You should gently compress your face/nose with an ice-cold towel. You can even wrap an ice-pack with a towel and hold it to your face. Avoid direct icing on your nose for up to 2/3 weeks since you shouldn't be pressing on it. Also, STAY OUT OF THE HEAT! No direct sunlight, no exercising, no hot showers/baths. Eating popsicles helped me deswell too. No hot food, I found that the steam swelled up my nose too. Hope this helps!

Thoroughly wash your face daily with hand soap and warm water; with emphasis on the nose. Let set for several moments then rinse and "pad" with dry soft towel.
