To keep the wound clean and dry, apply a wound cream or lotion and cover it with a sterile non-sticking bandage. Without scrubbing, "wash the wound daily" and apply a cream like neoporin an a sterile non-sticking dressing and bandage until it has completely healed.
Keep the cut moist at all times with lotion or gel and keep bandage.
If necessary, take a pain reliever such as, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin or other). Follow label instructions.
Do not let the cut dry out or scab over.Clean with mild soap and water every day. Keep it moist until well heal. This will heal the wound twice as fast and keep the scaring down.

Taking care of a wound properly is your first step. Use neosporin and make sure to dress it properly. When it starts to heal more and is not an open wound, start using Mederma. It is one of the number one product for scars recommended by dermatologists and I can also personally attest to it. I fell down a muddy hill while climbing last summer and my thigh got dragged along rocks and roots the entire way. It was pretty terrible and I was reeeeally freaked out about scarring, but I just used Mederma on it two or three times a day and it helped a lot.
Once a scar has formed, it is very difficult to get rid of it entirely without surgery. Two more natural remedies, cocoa butter and vitamin E capsules, when applied to the area may help fade the appearance of scars.
I have had three operations on my tummy and I have three scars. A good idea is to massage vitamin E cream into your scar every night before you go to bed.
try mederma- it is the best scar creme you can buy. you can get it at CVS/drug store and just put it on while you sleep.

Well no massage doesn't do anything for the formed scar tissue other than add a little more circulation to the area. Scar tissue will diminish over time as the body sluffs the damaged tissue. There is no "quick fix" for this tissue, that's why dealing with aftercare related issues as quickly as possible is so important. Bumps and lumps left untreated will form scar tissue and there is no cheap or quick fix for this once it's formed.
