How to release spare on 2003 rodeo

Read the owners manual. There should be a key/tool provided to operate the spare tire holding mechanism.
Did you ever get yours open?? I'm having the same problem.
The spare tire release bolt is located in the rear cargo area of the 1998 Toyota Sienna. Look for a small "U" shaped piece of loose carpet on the floor of the cargo area. The bolt should be turned counterclockwise to release the spare tire.
Removing a spare tire on a 1998 Blazer is very east. The tire is located under the rear of the blazer. The tire has a turn handle that will release the tire. Turn the handle until the tire releases.
you dont it is just for looks
When you open you back gate you should have a round knotch on the right side and the extention that fits the jack also fits the spare tire release. Counterclockwise, and that should work. No special or spare key needed just your tools provided.
If I, remember right, you have to lift the carpet inside the gate above the spare tire. There you will find a bolt head that you can crank with the tire iron. This should lower the tire so you can remove it. Good luck
