Dissarm air bags, slide it along its track to find torx mounting bolts - four of them. Remove these and unplug the airbag wiring.
try under drivers seat
Its under the drivers seat a flat silver box
fuse has proberbly blown on top of the radio unit under the drivers seat
under the floor of the passenger seat....... ( when it's a type 3 espace )
Is it the location of the battery,If it is, its under the drivers seat. The drivers seat tilts to reveal the battery.
Pioneer remote control? Radio display integrated into the dash? The radio is under the drivers seat. Remove this seat (disconnect battery for 24hrs and take care with airbag wires!) and you can take off a plastic cover and a carpet flap to reveal all!
The radio unit is stowed under the drivers seat. I would suspect the fuse that is on the back of the radio unit has blown (happened to me after a muppet tried to jump start off me). You will need to remove the drivers seat and the on the back of the radio unit itself where the connectors are it has a blade fuse (i think its red) that will need to be changed. Hope this helps.

The sterio in a Grand espace of that era is under the drivers seat! (if it has a CD changer this part will be in the back) It is feasable (just!) to modify it to add a wired input to an iPod - I've done this - but it's not for the faint hearted! I'd recommend buying one of those FM transmitters - far easier.
Remove seat!
