The 74 Beetle has two rails in the aft side and a sliding bar in the front center with holes for each settings of the seat adjustment. At the front of the center bar there is a clip in the front of the bar that has to be removed for the seat to slide backwards and out of the rail. The two aft legs have additional clips on the aft side of the sliding rails. Once you remove all three clips hold the seat adjustment lever and move the seat back until the front bar and the two aft legs clear the rails.
