You cant on the 5spd its sealed. It can be removed with a saw and pliers. I did this to mine and it turned out great. You have to remove the entire knob. Leaver the hour glass shaped piece alone push it down so u can cut and don't cut through the metal. I did mine with a knife so I didn't cut through any metal. I can send pics of how it turned out .
