You start under the console lid, removing the two screws at the front of the storage bin, working your way forward to the next panel.

To remove the factory stereo in a 2003 Subaru Forester X, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid any electrical issues. First you have to remove the plastic dash cover that goes around the radio, a/c vents, and steering wheel (it just pops off). there are 2 screws that hold the radio in, remove the 2 screws and pull the stereo oun and unplug.
