In order to remove the alternator on a 1.6 liter four cylinder you will have to remove the a/c line going into the car located on the passenger side. Then you will have the room to remove the alternator from the car. There are 2 bolts holding the alternator in 1 on top and the other on the bottom. This is a fairly easy job should take about 15 - 25 minutes to complete.

If the reservoir is blocking the way, then it will have to be removed.
Completely immobilize the car. Block wheels. Use a mechanics jack to lift front end of car. Crawl underneath and remove the 4 bolts on the Alternator. Caution: There may be left over freon ... oops! You said alternator. I was thinking about the a/c compressor. Sorry.
It could be the fuel pump, fuel filter, alternator, or the relay switch.
