If you are talking about the Verizon apps, the only way to remove them is to root and unlock the bootloader on the phone, then you can disable or remove the Verizon apps at that point.

Ask a sales rep for a demo in store if that's possible. If you normally just make calls, the LG may be a better choice. It would have basic access to music and web but the main function for the LG would be to make phone calls. Texting, apps, and web are not the main focus of this phone.
