i have the same problem on my 97 eldorado. the transmission is too close to the bolt to get a socket around it. you would have to take the whole engine out or take it into a repair shop and be sure to tell them exactly what the problem is so that they dont spend a bunch of time looking for something else wasting your money.
no...sounds like an exhaust leak could also be a crack in the manifold

starter is inside engine.yes I said inside.intake valley and injection system removed, starter is in valley.Big job!!!here it is!The starter on a northstar engine is located beneath the upper intake plenum. This is correct. I have had one replaced on a 95 eldorado. I suggest you go to your favorite auto parts, buy the starter and take car and starter to GM and let them change it. Buying the starter yourself will save around 300.00. .
you have to remove airbox, computer housing, then remove the plastic liner around the fuse box you will see many fuses and relays. the part number on it is 8157 and is the lower right relay on the bank of six
It will use a lots of gas but does not waste it. It is just the fact that it is a very heavy car, with a big 390 cubic inch V8 of 50s design, using a carburetor, hauling around all that un-aerodynamic weight. Expect around 10 to 13 mpg which is common for this size car built in the 50s.The 59 Cadillac Eldorado fuel mileage was 8 to 14 mpg. It did 0 to 60 in 10.5 seconds. Top speed was 120 to 125 mph. It weighed 4855 to 5060 lbs.
