cant find the screws under steering colim thats holding it in
You have to remove the entire dash assembly.
Very difficult, as it is underneath the dash, which is hard to remove.
there are 3 screws that must be removed for the lower dash under steering wheel. After removal dash can be pulled away. There are 2 Phillip's screws in connecting the dome. Remove them and you can carefully pry dash off.
Behind the instrument Cluster. Or remove it and replace the Cluster.
4x4 dash lights on a Dodge Durango don't work
That is the dash.
I just removed an entire dash out of a 2000 Durango and its car stereo amp was located behind the right kick panel inside the Durango. Remove the panel when the door is open (that covers the carpet, just pry up gently) Remove the 2 screws that hold the kickpanel in (one is slightly behind the carpet, the other one is in the panel) Remove amp
It is in the instrument cluster in the dash.
there will be roughly 4 screws on the dash, 2 by the guage window and 2 by the radio/ heat controls. after removing pop out the dash. you will have to lower the steering collum, after the dash is off you have 4 screws holding the stereo in place.
Gently pull from inside the steering wheel column. It only has clips. They pop right off.
under the dash
it's actually fairly easy. there are screws where the speedometer is and under the dash. remove them and the front part of the dash just drops. now the kit for aftermarket installations is hard to find for a 2001. the kit i used was for a 2000 intrepid. fits perfectly.
