Remove rear seat, there is an access panel for the fuel filter. Remove access panel and have access to fuel filter.
I think the fuel filter is located on the driver's side near the gas tank, probably just in front of it. I found the following site has great instructions and pictures as I recently had my fuel filter replaced in my 2002 Saturn SL2, http://www.cristhomas.com/cars/FuelFilter/FuelFilterHowTo.html

You have to remove the tank, the filter is part of the fuel pump module in the fuel tank.You have to remove the tank, the filter is part of the fuel pump module in the fuel tank.
The fuel filter is on the drivers side frame under the brake master cylinder. To change it remove the 2 10mm nuts from the filter bracket then disconnect the fuel lines to it AND CAREFULLY REMOVE do not bend the plastic lines.
You have to remove the fuel pump from inside the gas tank. The fuel filter and inlet strainer are attached to the pump.
The fuel filter is under the car right in front of the left rear tire. There will be a black plastic cover you need to remove to access the fuel filter.

It's an Inline metal filter under the car and you need a special snap arround tool to remove it.
It is in the trunk. You have to remove the you trunk carpeting and it will reveal a silver plate.. Remove that and there is your filter.
The fuel filter is located in the gas tank. Remove the fuel line. Next, remove the fuel filter retaining plate. Last, remove the fuel filter and replace with a new fuel filter.
