Fuel filter in in gas tank and is part of fuel pump assembly. You will have to drop tank
The fuel filter on a 2006 Suburban is in the fuel tank. Chevy started putting the filter in the tank in 2005.
The 2003 Chevrolet Suburban fuel filter is located inside of the gas tank. You will to remove the gas tank in order to change the fuel filter.

Drain the fuel from the fuel tank. Remove the fuel line. Remove the fuel filter retaining bolts. Remove the fuel filter. Reverse the process to install the new fuel filter.
In 2004 Chevy moved the fuel filter from the drivers side frame rail and put it inside of the fuel tank. You will have to remove the fuel tank to service the fuel filter. =========================================================== I wanted to add that these filters are designated "Life-Time" fuel filters and there is no need to replace them unless fuel pump replacement needs to be performed.
