To remove the head on a Mercedes 312 Sprinter, first remove all components and accessories. Then remove valve covers and loosen the inboard center head bolt. Finally, remove the head.

Hi there. Mercedes Sprinter 312D has 5 cylinders, 10 valves and produces around 120 hp and 280 NM tork. Displacement is 2874 (2.9 litre). One of the best cars (vans) ever. I sold mine with over 800 000 Km on the clock...
because it may have a leak so yeah a small leak
This is assuming that you have a relatively new sprinter as i don't know about the old ones. All modern Merc vans are rated first in weight then bhp. ie, a 111 would be rated at 1 ton with 110 bhp, a 208 would be 2 tons with 80 bhp and a 416 would be rated at 4 tons with 160 bhp. In the case of this model, the 312, the van is rated at 3 tons with 120 bhp. I must add though that I'm not sure if the weight limit is overall weight or carrying ability.
The diagram has to be printed somewhere. Some cars have a label in the engine compartment, some drawing in the manual. The rule of thumb is that the crankshaft pulley needs to have about 180 degrees loop of belt on it. So looking on the engine from front and going clockwise the belt goes under the crankshaft pulley, wraps it toward 2 o'clock, where usually is a tensioner on idler pulley, than goes back toward 8 o'clock, loops on whatever is there and than wraps around all the pulleys on the engine. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/general-mercedes-benz/1429423-sprinter-fanbelt.html
