if it is on a burner and you can tolerate a few hours of stinkiness, I have found turning the burner on high for a few minutes will essentially burn it off. It is then easy to remove with a scrub pad and/or steel wool. Steel wool may work well without the burning phase..........
ONLY TO BE DONE BY A RESPONSIBLE ADULT CHILDREN - PLEASE DON'T TRY TO DO THIS BY YOURSELF! TAKE GREAT CARE
TO BE WELL PREPARED
WITH THE RIGHT CALM ATTITUDE
BEFORE
YOU ATTEMPT TO DO THIS! WARNING: If you do this be prepared for fire and smoke!
There will be dangerously hot molten metal!
If matters get out of control you must be prepared to
evacuate the house and call the local fire service!
Get: * A fire extinguisher of the dry powder type. (NOTthe type that uses water!)
* A pack of cleaner paste for the glass stove top. It's sold in supermarkets as "Hob Cleaner".
* A roll of paper kitchen towels.
* AT LEAST FOUR dry wooden (not plastic!) spatulas, the type you would use to flip eggs in a pan. These must be completelydry. They must not be wet!
* A dry metal non-aluminum container.
The container must be made of steel because it has a much higher melting point than aluminum. It must be clean and dry. (NO WATER! IT MUST BE DRY!) An empty steel "can", such as you buy soup or beans in, would be ideal. (The fact that it is probably made of steel plated with tin doesn't matter, as long as it is not an aluminum can.)
This should be placed on the undamaged part of the stove top so it is ready to drop molten metal into.
* Engineer's "machine workshop goggles" to protect your eyes.
* Thin gardening gloves, leather-faced or similar, to protect your hands.
* Place a half-filled bucket of cold water on the floor, ready for you to drop burning wooden spatulas into.
* If the stove has an overhead smoke extractor hood, be ready to use it.
METHOD
If you have one, switch on the extractor fan at full power. Put on the goggles and the gloves.
Switch on the ring so it is hot enough to just melt the aluminum. Then, VERY carefully, holding one dry wooden spatula in each gloved hand, scrape and scoop up the melted metal, one small "blob" at a time. Drop the molten blobs into the dry can. Be extra careful not to spill any onto the worktop, the floor - or yourself!. You must use two spatulas at a time otherwise you will only be able to move the melted metal around the stove top and you might easily get some onto the surrounding kitchen worktop and burn it.
When a spatula catches on fire and the flame doesn't go out, immediately drop it into the bucket of cold water.
If any fire or flame gets out of control switch off the stove top immediately and use the dry powder fire extinguisher to put out the flames. You must then let everything cool off completely before you clean up the mess and start over.
After you have gotten as much aluminum as possible off the hot ring: * switch off the stove top * leave it to cool down for at least an hour * switch off the extractor fan only after all smoke and fumes have gone.
Take off the goggles and gloves.
Put a teaspoon-sized blob of Glass Hob Cleaner paste onto the hob and use a dry paper kitchen towel to spread it all over the ring area. Let that cleaner paste dry off. Then use the paper kitchen towel to rub the dried cleaner paste into the stain over and over and, hopefully, you may get most of it off. However you may be unlucky and, even if you use the hob cleaner paste several times over several weeks, to try to remove the final stains, a weak stain may remain forever. Some people may recommend using the type of metal-handled scraper specially made for use on glass stove tops - they have a razor blade mounted on them - but if some of the aluminum has gotten burnt into the glass surface, there is no point in damaging the surface even more by attacking it with a sharp tool such as a metal scraper of any type.
Try a window scraper (razor blade) type.
I'm afraid you'll need to scrape it off.
WD 40 and a razor blade.
Stove Top stuffing was created in 1972.
stove top heated the logical reason is that the stove top acts as a heatsink ie it helps prevent the whole cooker body getting too hot
