Goto the autozone. Get an "OEM Radio Removal tools" by Metra RoadWorks, pn AW-FDRT. This kit consists of two U shaped wire prongs that you insert on the two holes on either side of the face plate. Cost of the kit was a couple of bucks. I suppose you can cut a hanger and bend it into shape, but I was in autozone one day and saw it/bought it.

To remove the radio from a 1999 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Use a flat-head screwdriver or a trim removal tool to gently pry off the surrounding bezel or trim panel around the radio. Once the bezel is removed, unscrew the mounting screws holding the radio in place, then carefully pull the radio out and disconnect the wiring harness and antenna cable from the back. Reinstall in reverse order when finished.

Once done, press the "Clock" button again to save the time.
To reset the radio in a 2005 Eddie Bauer, first turn the ignition to the "On" position without starting the engine. Then, press and hold the "Power" button on the radio for about 10-15 seconds until the display resets. If that doesn't work, you may also try disconnecting the vehicle's battery for a few minutes and reconnecting it, which can reset the radio system. Always consult the owner's manual for specific instructions related to your vehicle's model.
You can find a radio wiring harness for your 1997 Ford at most auto-parts stores. Many electronic stores will also have the radio wiring harness.
The radio is usually supplied power until you open one of the doors. Perhaps what you have is a bad door sensor? Try shutting off the car, and then opening the passenger door and see if it shuts the radio off. If that doesn't fix it, then whatever module the radio is connected to is probably bad.
