If that's the extent of the complaint, check the serpentine belt and tensioner.
That I know of, there is NO serpentine belt, unless you are talking about the the Timing Belt (hardly serpentine, but anyway), it has a belt tensioner, not automatic, though.
The 2001 Honda Civic is not equipped with a serpentine belt, but has 2 v-belts. These are tensioned through use of a tensioner.
Begin by loosening the tensioner pulley. Slide the tensioner pulley to the right. The old serpentine belt will become loose and can be removed. Put the new serpentine belt on and reverse a process.

Honda Man'sThere is no manual way to tighten the belt. The serpentine belt tensioner is spring loaded and requires no adjustment. If the belt is too loose replacing the belt tensioner will be required. it should tighten automaticly,you may need to replace the tensioner
