On the right side of the bike, there are two bolts in the frame between the battery tray and the rear fender, loosen these two bolts, do not take them out. Take the seat off the bike. Look down into the frame just inside the battery and you'll see the head of a "jack bolt". Turn this bolt counterclockwise and the battery tray (with the battery) will lower allowing you to remove the battery top cover and surround. Now, you can get to the battery.
