I had a 1996 Dodge 1500, and I'm thinking it would be the same:
Take the screws out of the door for the pocket (above the door handle...not really sure what its called but it should be two Philips screws) and where the mirror control is (also a Philips screw).
Now they make a special screw to take the door panel off, but if you have a "y" looking screw driver that might be able to do the job. I've been able to just gently pry mine off. You can usually re-use the "screws", but if not you can pick up some spares at an automotive store.
Starting at the bottom of the door, gently pry and work your fingers under the panel. You will feel some resistance, but when it comes off you'll hear a snap and then feel down some more and pull again....I think there is about 4 on the bottom, 3 on the side (towards the bed of the truck), 3 on the other side (by the front of the truck) and then about 4 on the top by the window and your door lock.
Now the door panel should be free of the door. If you can reach your hand into that pocket you took off earlier, try to disconnect the switch to the door locks. It's a tight fit. If not, try to wiggle the door off the door handle and the door lock. If you can get that off, you can disconnect the switch on the door lock and window up/down switch. There will also be a switch for the mirror controller. Go ahead and unplug that as well. Then you should be able to pull the door panel off.
