Pin the top tension idler pully..take the front wheel off...the bottom idler pully is on an excentric...loosen same....belt goes slack.... put new belt on,set the excentric as tight as possible.. remove the pin in the top tension idler pully belt should be tight after doing this... happy days

I have the Peugeot 406 2.1 td glx model and i know it may differ slightly from model to model but my fan motor just went, i bought one from the local breakers yard and it worked a dream, its under the glove box on the passenger side, there is srcews all around the fan and there is awkward plugs all around it to undo it but get a recon one or a secondhand on to replace it as they are expensive to buy new if you can find one.
The water temperature sensor is located on the front of the engine. You will find the sensor behind the thermostat housing.
Open the hood Right after emblem is the cooling fans At the two sides of the cooling fans construction are two clips. One left, One right. Un-clip them at the same time and remove easily the fans. Then you can access the fan motors.

hi,remove the wires from the thermo switch that tells the fan when to work and bridge them together,fan shoul work with ign on,if not faulty.
The serpentine belt on a 406 has an automatic tensioner you need a long ring spanner to relieve the tension to be able to replace the belt. from memory ( don't quote me ) I think it's 15mm.
